- by admin
The world celebrates World Health Day on the 7th of April every year. It is a very important day that is concerned and concentrated on health awareness. This day is celebrated under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization or WHO which is the world’s biggest body related to health. The aim of this day is to bring the attention of people towards their health and how to keep a check on it, always. An interesting part about this day is that each year there is a different and unique theme attached to it.
The world health day 2023 theme is ‘Health For All’. This year will also be 75 years of WHO. Different activities and set-ups are being created around the world on this day. So, we thought to give our contribution to world health day and share some simplest tips which will keep all of our health in check.
To be honest, for humans, health is something that should be their primary concern, especially in this era but contrary to it, we, however, tend to keep it on our least priority list, well at least most of us. If we had to ask you when was the last time you went for a routine check-up without facing any health issues, you surely wouldn’t have an answer to it. But, don’t worry, you are not alone, it is all of us. We somehow have that tendency to overlook our health as long as things are normal.
Well, giving you a little bit of a reality check that if not big things, you must bring a lifestyle change and involve some healthier habits in your routine so that your health is always in check.
Let us talk about some of the simplest lifestyle changes we can bring into our lives which can add a great difference to our health in a long term.
P.S. – Do not worry as we will not include tedious stuff which you can only start but not continue. Also, read thoroughly because we have surprises of information throughout.
- 20-minute body movement rule
Most of us in 2023 are living a sedentary lifestyle. We are mostly sitting on our working chairs, in the cabs, on the couch, and you know what we are heading towards. When it comes to working out, most of us have two very common excuses and they are not having time and not having the willingness.
We have a solution to both of these. You just have to make sure that you are moving your body for at least 20 minutes a day in one go. You can be doing anything like walking, brisk walking, running, jogging, stretching, cardio, anything, but just do something. This 20-minute movement is going to make a great difference in your body in the long term.
Choose something that you enjoy and don’t feel like a chore. If time is an issue, take 20 minutes out at night, plug in your favourite music and just want on the terrace/ground. Or you can use your social media while walking, you will anyways check your phone, so why not utilise the time?
- Have detox water at any hour of the day
Okay, first things first, detox water will never help you in losing weight. Yes, that’s true. Detox water can only improve your metabolism in the long run which can help you in digesting your food better. So, stop thinking that this is miracle water.
Also, detox water works best when it is accompanied by a balanced diet and a bit of exercise. You can have the simplest detox water which is warm water, lemon, and honey every morning to speed up your metabolism. Also, it is a great way to keep yourself hydrated and increase the water content in the body.
P.S. – Regular drinking of any detox water also has positive effects on your skin because it gets cleaned from within.
- Sleep for 6 to 8 hours every night
This might sound preachy but this is true. Sleep is a very important part of our schedule and life. If sleep is messed up, our whole day is messed up. This directly has a lot of impact on our overall health.
Waking up without having proper and content sleep makes us want to consume more caffeine, makes us want to eat our comfort food, makes us always want to slouch, and whatnot. So, make sure to sleep for 6 to 8 hours a day.
Squeeze your social media and phone timings smartly at the different hours of the day. It will really help you with sleeping.
- Have control over the junk/fried food intake
Okay, so this is the commonest thing that everyone talks about and everyone says to everyone. But, to be honest, with so many options around us, with food delivery apps making lives easier, with food bloggers always jamming our social media feeds with sumptuous food, with a busy life, makes it very tough for us to control it.
But, we have some simple solutions for you! We know it is tough to cut it completely and go on a strict diet, for most of us. So, here are some things that you can do to improve this. First, make a list of how often you have junk food and as per that plan out to cut its consumption. For example, if you have it on 4 days a week, cut it to two.
Next, whenever you are craving a particular dish, order it, but split it with your friends and family and instead of having it completely, just have a few spoons or slices of it. For most of us, it is about the taste and not the quantity, so this will work. For example, if you are craving a pizza, order a small one, and just eat one slice. You will be satisfied.
And last, when you are carving junk food, have proper home food first and then just for the taste have the thing that you are craving. The quantity intake will be less and your taste buds will also be content.
- Minimise the sugar intake on a regular basis
Believe it or not, reducing your sugar intake is going to help a lot in keeping your health in check. Sugar can help in weight loss, it can free you from having diabetes in future, and it can also help you be more energised throughout the day.
Minimise its intake, and switch it with jaggery or brown sugar or any healthy alternative. Sugar does no good to the body. If you are a sweet-toothed person, find options that can help your craving for sweetness but without actual sugar intake. These days, it’s not tough to find ever a sugar-free cake that tastes the same.
- Replace your regular snacks with healthier options
Again, this one seems preachy and most of us are not ready to go about it. But, when there are options that offer you taste without compromising health, what is the harm? You just need to make a little research on some trending and nice healthy snack options and switch to buying them.
Afternoon snacking can be very evidently replaced with fruits. For evening snacks, you can have roasted makhana, bhel without oil, baked puffs, etc. If it’s still tough for you, just reduce the snacking option, for example, if you have a habit of having samosas every day (which is very unhealthy on your part), just have one bite of it and so on.
Give yourself time and a routine and you will be able to cut it down.
- Be mindful of your meals every day
Being mindful about your meals means having a thought about what goes inside your body. Make sure to have more greens. If you love rice, have it every day, but lower its quantity and increase the number of vegetables and include some salads so that you are full and the meal is balanced.
Try to find healthier options for everything like switching from white bread to whole wheat bread. Both taste the same and the latter has no negative effects on your body. Bring some small and impactful lifestyle changes like these.
Also, if you had biryani for lunch, try to compensate for it with roti and daal for dinner, etc. Have one cheat day or a cheat weekend where you eat whatever you want so that your mind is happy and then be balanced for the whole week.
It’s pretty simple. You just have to find out what works for you.
Conclusion
If you read deeply, you will find simple and effective ways to stay healthy and make your health your priority. These little changes we suggested here can help you be healthy in the long term. Stay healthy and that’s how you can be the wealthiest of all.
