9 life lessons to take away from Dussehra and Vijaydashmi if you are feeling low in life

Indian festivals are more than just festivals. It is not just about the festival day and the celebrations that happen on that particular day. Indian festivals are all about being emotionally attached to the deities, waiting for their arrival, planning for the fun things ahead, looking forward to spending time with our loved ones and eating lots of good food. Indian festivals are emotions for which we crave for the entire year and when it finally comes, we are quite ecstatic about it.

We are on the topic of festivals because the festive season is right here. There is something about the festive season in the air. Everything is better everything is magical, everything seems to be falling into place, and everything is just right. We know you might be quite excited about the festive season and hence we penned down a beautiful blog for you related to the festive season.

In this blog, we are talking about the 9 life lessons to take away from Dussehra and Vijaydashmi if you are feeling low in life. Dusshera and Dashmi, both are beautiful festivals that mark the celebration of good winning over evil. So, apart from the celebrations, there are a lot of takeaways from these festivals that we can imbibe in our lives to lead a more content life.

Let’s unleash them one by one, right here.

  1. You are enough

Lord Rama decided to bring back Maa Sita from Lanka and free her from Ravan all by himself. He knew he was in trouble and he had to help himself and his wife. Even if there were thousands of difficulties, he knew he had no other option but to be strong and do it all by himself. The same goes for Maa Durga (precisely, Maa Katyayani, Maa Durga’s form who killed Mahishasura) who killed Mahishasura. The entire God’s kingdom was suffering from Mahishasura’s evil acts. This is when Maa Durga came in between all by herself and even being a woman,  she killed one of the most powerful demons of all time.

They both are telling us that we are enough and we are capable of doing it all if we make a firm decision. Listen to the Gods, guys!

  1. Good always wins

This is the ultimate message of these two festivals that we have been taught for ages now. Both Ravan and Mahishasura were killed because of their evil acts, attitude, delusion, ego, lust, envy, anger, and the list goes on and on. They were defeated mostly because they always thought nobody was better and stronger than them. But, they always forgot that no amount of power and strength is going to help you in life if your intentions are not good. The people whom both of them thought were too weak in front of them became the reason for their deaths.

Hence, the takeaway is that always have pure intentions and wait. If you are on the side of the ‘good’, you are going to win.

  1. Home is where the heart is

The day when Lord Rama came back home to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile was a day of excitement, happiness, and lots of emotions. Everyone was happy. In fact, that day started to be celebrated as Diwali and is still one of the biggest Indian festivals. On the contrary, on the day of Vijayadashmi, Maa Durga leaves her parent’s home (mayka) and goes back to her husband’s home (sasural). Everyone is sad in her mayka as she is leaving and she is sad as well. The same goes for all devotees who start waiting for her homecoming, the next year.

These two emotions show the importance of home, family, and our loved ones. No matter where you are in the world, home will always be the place where your heart is.

  1. The end is always beautiful

Both Lord Rama and Maa Durga were having tough times in their lives because of Ravan and Mahishasura respectively. Nothing was going correctly in their lives at that point of time and things seemed very difficult. The same happens with all of us as well. We all go through different kinds of tough times. During those times, the tunnel is so dark that it feels impossible to get through it or get out of it.

But, both these festivals encourage us to believe that we need to keep patience and that the end of this troubled time is going to be beautiful.

  1. No tough time is permanent

There is a beautiful saying that goes like ‘That too shall pass’. It applies to everything be it good or bad but during the bad times, this definitely feels the most uplifting thing to hear. If we think about the situations that lead us to these festivals then we can only imagine how hard it would have been for the Gods (the ones who rule the Universe) to survive each day under the terror of Mahishasura. The same goes for Lord Rama. How tough it would have been for him to cross the seas and other difficulties to bring back his kidnapped wife! How tough it would have been for him to pass each day when his wife was kidnapped by a demon and he could not even see what was going on.

Still, in both these situations, the tough times passed, and the good days came. So, no matter how dark the tunnel is, always believe that there is light at the end of it.

  1. You can do the unimaginable

Ravan was given some amazing blessings and power by Lord Shiva (as he was his ardent devotee) under which he could only be killed under some really tough circumstances. Hence, he was extremely overconfident that Lord Rama would not be able to kill or defeat him. Even Mahishasura was too overconfident that a woman could not kill him, no matter what. But, both of them did. Maybe they themselves did not know that they could but when they were put into that situation, they did. It was so because they believed in themselves.

This teaches us that we can do the unimaginable as we have that power and blessings from our angels. There are things for which you need help but when there is no one to help you, you need to help yourself because that can be done.

  1. Your prayers will be answered

Prayers are extremely powerful. There is nothing in the world that cannot be changed by true prayers. More than optimists, we are being the believers here but this is what the Gods have taught us. When Lord Rama was on the battlefield, every God and everyone was praying for him to win. The same goes for Maa Durga. All the Gods in the Universe were praying for her to win. So many prayers, good intentions, and good deeds will always be answered.

So, be the one who prays and believes. Be the one who resorts to prayers in all good and bad situations. Your prayers are going to be answered if they are backed up with good intentions.

  1. Perseverance always gives good results

There are jobs and tasks that require a lot from us. In those tough times when nothing is going right, every target is feeling unachievable, and you are feeling you are not getting any returns on all your efforts, those are the days when you have to hold on the perseverance. Once you do that with a belief that even if things are not going as they should be going, one day they will bear all the results. That is the day when you will win.

Lord Rama and Maa Durga held on to their perseverance when the target felt unattainable and got what they wanted.

  1. Welcome the new beginnings by forgetting everything that happened

Finally, when you get what you want, you have to let go of the burden of what you went through. Lord Rama was in exile for 14 years and during that time only Maa Sita got kidnapped. But, as soon as he freed her, he let go of the past without blaming anyone for letting him be in that situation. Even Maa Durga enjoyed her win over Mahashasura and carried on with her life without thinking about the tough times.

This signifies that you need to enjoy the present and let go of the past. This shows that you have to enjoy the new beginnings and welcome the new things in your life. Make way for the positive changes.

Conclusion
